Over 50 young people from across Norfolk came together at Lynford Hall recently to learn how to take action against bullies, and how to encourage other young people to do the same. The Anti-Bullying and Mental Health Training Day gave young people the opportunity to learn a range of techniques to tackle bullies including Assertiveness and Bystander Training and how to pass on this knowledge to their peers.
The event was funded by the Breckland and West Norfolk Youth Advisory Boards (YABS) in response to their Youth Consultation earlier this year which identified Bullying as a priority issue for young people across the two districts.
MAP Youth Worker Michelle Bibby worked with the YABs to deliver the event and said ‘‘Through peer to peer training, these 50 young people can spread anti-bullying techniques to over 500 young people. It is an effective way of empowering as many young people as possible to have the confidence and skills to stand up to bullies.’
