YOUNG PEOPLE VOTE TO PROTECT AGAINST CHILD EXPLOITATION

THE NORWICH YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (YAB) HAVE VOTED TO COMMISSION A PROJECT THAT WILL ACTIVELY PROTECT THOSE MOST VULNERABLE TO CHILD EXPLOITATION.

Following a consultation with young people identifying the issue of child exploitation in the Norwich Heartsease area, the Norwich Youth Advisory Board have decided to assign £10,000 to commission a new project aimed at tackling this issue. This project should offer a programme that seeks to create positive activities for young people to engage and targeted at young people vulnerable to exploitation. This project should provide physical activities and a positive social setting for young people aged 12 to 16, living or studying within the Heartsease area of Norwich. This project will run from April 2021 to October 2021

Do you have what it takes to provide and deliver this remit?

The Norwich YAB are looking for a provider to deliver weekly sessions with a focus on physical activities such as self-defence training, boxing, basketball and football and expected outcomes for young people are:

  • Young people will report that they have a support network and a positive social circle
  • Young people will report an increased level of self-esteem, security and confidence
  • Young people will report that they feel more positively about their future
