We are still here despite the pandemic. Do get in contact if you need support or just a chat. Good news! We have returned to face-to-face work!
A short film to celebrate with Norwich Pride 🏳️🌈
TRANS? GENDER-QUESTIONING? INTERSEX? NON-BINARY?
What: Evolve is MAP’s free, confidential gender identity support service for young people who identify on the broad ‘trans spectrum’ – including intersex people and non-binary people who may or may not also identify as trans, as well as those who are questioning their identity.
Monthly Evolve support groups are safe spaces facilitated by our experienced staff, where young people can socialise and discuss trans issues in a friendly, respectful and understanding environment.
We offer an Evolve group for those aged 11 – 16 and another for those who are 16 – 25. We also provide one-to-one support and advice around gender identity.
Other activities have included film-making, poetry workshops, theatre trips, arts and crafts, picnics, talks from healthcare professionals and trans activists and also involvement in events such as Trans Day of Remembrance, Trans Day of Visibility and Norwich Pride.
Last year young people engaging with MAP made a fantastic film: Understanding and Respecting Differences – to explore the real experiences of Norfolk’s trans youth – to raise awareness about the diversity of experiences and needs within the transgender community. This project (which includes an accompanying booklet) was supported by The Barbara Ross Association, in memory of the late Barbara Ross OBE, a pioneer of gender counselling.
Before attending Evolve, we ask that all new members book a one-to-one appointment with one of our practitioners so they can find out more about the group and decide if it is right for them. We also confirm the venue, dates and times that Evolve takes place at this appointment.
