Ahead of the General Election on 4th July, young people got their questions answered by local candidates...
Last week MAP hosted “The Big Debate”. Young people filled the Platform Theatre at City College Norwich and asked candidates from all major parties what they would do if elected. Young people asked about poverty, votes at 16, the climate crisis, gender identity, and education.
I know a lot more about what the parties stand for. [...] I know who I'm voting for.
We saw how engaged young people were in our democracy and what was important to them. One young person said “[the debate] was really useful. I know a lot more about what the parties stand for. I’m more sure about who will make the changes I want to see. I know who I’m voting for”.
How To Vote
On Thursday 4th July it’s your chance to vote for who you want to represent you in Parliament. You can vote any time between 7am and 10pm on this date at your polling station. This is usually a public building near you like a school or a village hall. The address of your polling station will be written on the 'poll card' that you should have received in the post. You don't need to bring your poll card with you, but you must bring your photo ID.
If you've got questions about photo ID, need help finding your polling station, or have any other questions about the General Election, we can help. Get in touch on 0800 0744454, email [email protected], or see us in person at one of our drop-in centres. Make sure you're ready to have your say on 4th July.
