Thursday 31st March is Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV). To mark the occasion at MAP, we’re discussing why TDOV is important to us and to young people, how we support trans, questioning, and gender non-conforming young people, and where you can learn more about what it means to be trans.
TDOV is important and necessary because it gives us an opportunity to reflect on the value that trans people bring to all our lives, and to consider the ways in which trans people are often overlooked or misunderstood. Every day, but especially on TDOV, we should support the trans people in our lives to take control of their own stories, so that trans people can be visible as they truly are, whatever that means to them.
MAP offers a range of support for young trans people. We run a closed group called Evolve for young people who are trans, non-binary, or questioning their gender, which is free to join, and is open to young people aged 11-16, or 16-25. We have a team of advisers who can offer free advice to any young people between the ages of 11-25, including advice on issues relating to gender and sexuality. You can find out more and get in touch with our advice team here.
For information about Evolve including when and where they meet, please email [email protected]
If you want to learn more about what it means to be a young trans person, there are plenty of resources for you to explore:

We'll also be posting resources and sharing messages of support on our social media during TDOV, make sure you're following us so you don't miss out!
