Youth Work Week 2026 takes place from 2-8 November, and this year’s theme, Where Futures Begin, recognises that every young person’s journey is shaped by the relationships they build, the environments they feel part of and the opportunities they’re given.
Youth work helps young people build confidence, develop meaningful relationships, explore their identity and ambitions, and take positive steps towards their future. Youth Work Week is an opportunity to celebrate the young people, youth workers, volunteers, organisations, and partnerships who help make this happen every day.
Youth Voice
"Young people can join one of our 6 Youth Advisory Boards, Youth Panel or contribute to MAP Voice if they are passionate about making a difference to their local communities and co-producing campaigns. Excitingly, this year sees the launch of our very exciting new podcast studio in Great Yarmouth!"
What is your favourite part of being part of Great Yarmouth YAB?
"Without a doubt, our favourite part is encouraging young people to try new things and discover what they're capable of. We also love helping young people create and host amazing events in Great Yarmouth and beyond."
Our Staff
It wouldn't be Youth Work Week without celebrating the wonderful team we have here at MAP. Our youth workers and administrators bring a wealth of diversity and experience, helping us ensure the best possible outcomes for young people.
Beyond MAP
"Being part of mentoring, open access or one of our Youth Voice offers provides young people with the chance to go on exciting trips outside of Norfolk, on the water and even overseas! We take young people camping, sailing, climbing and much more."
I felt like I was able to open up and talk about stuff that I had bottled up for a little while, which I was then helped with.
Open Access
"We have many different open access offers to suit the different interests and needs of young people. One young person at Gaming Spot said, "Before I came here, I could barely leave my house or go to college. Now I've made friends that I can game with, and we have been on trips together. I'm feeling more confident and don't mind college as much"
Mentoring
"Youth workers offer goal-based mentoring where young people set SMART goals that they want to work on. We know that having the space to speak to a positive role model can be the stepping stone to positive change, and many young people we work with go on to develop independence and build confidence by joining groups, trips and activities"
